Taking care of
your parentsshould be effortless.

Amatra has a real conversation with your parent and leaves a written summary on your phone. You will see what they ate, how their day went, and what has been bothering them, along with anything that needs your attention — a prescription running low, or something they have been meaning to ask you. So your Sunday call is no longer the only time you find out how they are.

Free while we're testing. No phone numbers yet — just your email.

How it works

Set it up once. It runs every day.

No app for your parent to install, no account for them to remember, no screen to learn. Their phone rings, and they talk.

1

You add your parent

Their name, their number, a time of day that suits them, and anything worth asking about — the neighbor who visits, the knee that plays up, the grandchild they ask after.

2

Amatra calls them

Sam in English, Priya in Hindi. A few minutes, at the same time each day. Not an interrogation — the same handful of questions a daughter would ask if she had the time.

3

You get the update

What they said, what they need, and what's changed since last week. Waiting for you when you finish work — or on your sister's phone in another city.

Amatra is for companionship, not medical advice. It records what your parent said on the phone. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Who calls

Two voices. More on the way.

People are warmest, and most honest, in the language they grew up speaking. So we didn't translate one voice — we wrote two.

Sam
English

Unhurried, and never clinical. When an ache comes up she doesn't get concerned or start advising — she asks how long it's been going on, and moves on like a friend would.

Priya
Hindi

Not Sam with subtitles. Priya asks in Hindi, switches to English where your parent would, and writes the summary in English — so you read it in yours.

They don't have to live where you do. Amatra calls parents across the United States and Canada, and abroad in India, the UAE and more.

Why we built it

Three generations of the same phone call.

Dubai India

1,200 miles

Every Sunday, our parents called their parents in India. The same questions, the same worry, the same crackling line.

United States Dubai

7,600 miles

Then we left for college, and our parents became the ones doing the calling. Had we eaten. Were we sleeping. Were we alright.

United States

8,412 miles

Now they're the ones getting older, and we're the ones on the other side of the world with a meeting at nine.

Nobody in this story stopped caring.
Time is what ran out.

Questions people ask

The ones that matter.

Does my parent know it isn't a real person?

Yes. At the start of every call, Sam says she's an AI assistant calling on behalf of the family, and that the call is recorded. Nobody is being tricked — that would be the fastest way to lose their trust, and yours.

Won't they just refuse to talk to it?

Some do at first. What we've found is that people are often more open with someone who isn't family — there's no one to worry, and nothing to admit. A parent who insists they're fine to their daughter will happily tell Sam the hip's been bad since Tuesday.

What if they don't answer?

Amatra doesn't ring and ring, and it doesn't leave a message and pretend that counts. You'll see that the call wasn't answered — and if it happens two days running, that's exactly the kind of thing you want to know about.

Isn't this just outsourcing the call I should be making?

It's the call on the days you can't. Most people we've spoken to aren't trying to call less — they're trying to stop the six-week gaps where nobody noticed anything. When you do call, you'll have something to talk about beyond "how are you, fine".

Is this a medical or emergency service?

No. Amatra records what your parent said in their own words and shows it to your family. It doesn't assess anyone's health, give advice, or respond to emergencies. It's useful to a doctor because it's a dated account of ordinary days — the interval history that otherwise doesn't exist.

Which languages, and which countries?

English and Hindi today, with more to come. We call the US, Canada, India, the UAE and a number of others. If we don't yet reach the country your parent lives in, we'll tell you honestly rather than take your money and find out.

What does it cost?

Nothing while we're testing. We're looking for a small number of families to use it properly and tell us where it falls short. There'll be a subscription later, and you'll know the price well before you're ever asked for it.

Who can see my parent's calls?

Only the people you invite into your care circle. You add them, and you can remove them. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
